WOLD IN WILD IX
Crafting “Virescent” with Alan Wood: A Journey into Melodic Techno
Working with Alan Wood, the talented DJ and music producer hailing from Rivera, Uruguay, and based in Montevideo, has been a remarkable journey into the world of melodic techno. He brought his debut track “Viscerent” to life, released under the WOLD label. Despite the physical distance, our collaboration thrived as we composed, edited, mixed, and mastered the track remotely via Zoom. Here’s an inside look at the creative process behind “Virescent.”
Our journey began with a series of Zoom sessions, where Alan and I brainstormed ideas and shared our visions for “Virescent.” Leveraging the power of software synthesizers, we crafted intricate soundscapes using tools like Serum and Hive, among others. These synths provided the backbone for the track, allowing us to shape its unique sonic identity.
For the drums, we meticulously selected sample packs that featured high-quality melodic techno sounds and textures. Each beat and percussive element was carefully chosen to add depth and drive to the track, creating a rhythmic foundation that pulsates with energy and complexity.
The heart of “Virescent” lies in its synthesizer-driven melodic elements. We focused on crafting captivating synth lines that would carry the emotional weight of the track. The layers of synthesizers intertwine, creating a rich tapestry of sound that draws listeners in and keeps them engaged from start to finish.
Our creative journey with “Viscerent” is just the beginning. Alan Wood and I are currently hard at work on new tracks, pushing the boundaries of melodic techno even further. Stay tuned for more innovative and captivating music as we continue to explore new sonic territories.
FIKA
Inside the Creation of Alan Wood’s “Fika – (Original Mix)”
Collaborating with Alan Wood has been an inspiring experience. As the Music Producer for his latest track “Fika,” released by Wise Jester Records, I had the privilege of working closely with Alan to bring his vision to life. Despite the distance, our teamwork thrived as we composed, edited, mixed, and mastered the track remotely via Zoom. Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Fika.”
Our creative process for “Fika” started with Zoom meetings where Alan and I exchanged and developed our ideas. We explored the vast capabilities of software synthesizers, utilizing Arturia V Collection X, Serum, and Hive to craft the track’s distinctive soundscapes. These tools were essential in providing the unique tones and textures that set “Fika” apart.
For the percussive elements, we curated high-quality sample packs featuring melodic techno sounds and textures. Each drum hit and percussive layer was carefully selected to build a rich and dynamic rhythmic structure that drives the track forward.
The heart of “Fika” lies in its intricate synthesizer melodies. Alan crafted compelling synth lines that convey the track’s emotional depth, while I focused on enhancing these elements through meticulous production techniques. The fusion of these components resulted in a sound that captivates and engages listeners throughout.
Alan Wood and I are currently developing new tracks, aiming to further innovate within the melodic techno genre. Look forward to more groundbreaking and engaging music as we continue to experiment and push creative boundaries.
