Crafting Musical Alchemy: Behind the Debut Album “Pluto In Aquarius” by Alchemyst
Embarking on a sonic journey with Alchemyst, the DJ and music producer from Uruguay based in San Carlos, Maldonado, was a captivating odyssey. Together, we delved into the creation of his debut album “Pluto In Aquarius,” released under RYNTH. Despite the physical distance, our collaboration thrived as we composed, edited, mixed, and mastered the tracks remotely via Zoom. Here’s a glimpse into the creative process that brought “Pluto In Aquarius” to life.
At the heart of “Pluto In Aquarius” lies a blend of sonic elements that transcend boundaries. We immersed ourselves in the realm of software synthesizers, including Arturia V Collection X and Kontakt, to sculpt rich and textured soundscapes. These virtual instruments served as our palette, allowing us to paint intricate sonic tapestries that captivated the listener’s imagination.
The rhythmic foundation of the album was meticulously crafted using handpicked sample packs of organic sounds and textures. Each drumbeat and percussive element was selected with care, adding depth and dimension to the sonic landscape. The result was a mesmerizing fusion of electronic and organic elements that pulsated with energy and vitality.
Central to the album’s identity are the orchestral vibes and main melodic elements, featuring instruments such as violin, viola, cello, and piano. These emotive and evocative sounds provided the backbone of the album, infusing each track with depth, emotion, and storytelling prowess. From haunting melodies to triumphant crescendos, the orchestral elements served as a sonic beacon guiding listeners through “Pluto In Aquarius.”
Adding to the sonic tapestry of “Pluto In Aquarius,” Ghume from Uruguay and Ivan Sandhas from Argentina joined forces as remixers, offering new and fresh reinterpretations of the original tracks. Their contributions brought a danceable energy to the album while honoring the essence and emotionality of the original compositions. With their expert touch, they transformed the tracks into irresistible dancefloor anthems!
While “Pluto In Aquarius” marks a significant milestone in Alchemyst’s musical journey, our collaboration continues to evolve. We’re currently hard at work on new compositions that promise to push the boundaries of sonic exploration even further. Stay tuned for more musical alchemy and sonic revelations on the horizon.
COCO (REMIX)
Revamping “Coco” with Alchemyst
Transforming Cumele’s track “Coco” for RYNTH has been a thrilling endeavor. As the Music Producer for this project, working with Alchemyst, an exceptional DJ and producer from Uruguay, has been a fantastic experience. Even though we were miles apart, we managed to compose, edit, mix, and master the remix entirely through Zoom sessions. Here’s an inside look at how we breathed new life into “Cumele – Coco (Alchemyst UY Remix).”
Our remixing process kicked off with comprehensive Zoom meetings, where Alchemyst and I discussed and refined our approach for “Coco.” We delved into the capabilities of software synthesizers, notably using Arturia V Collection X among other tools, to develop a distinctive sound for the remix. These synthesizers played a crucial role in crafting the unique tones and textures that set our remix apart.
For the rhythm section, we meticulously selected and processed sample packs rich in high-quality organic house sounds and textures. Each drum and percussive element was chosen to enhance the track’s groove and energy, providing a robust foundation for the remix.
The core of the remix lies in its melodic elements and groove. Alchemyst focused on creating compelling synth lines that bring a new emotional depth to the track, while I ensured these elements blended seamlessly into the overall mix. The outcome is a remix that honors the original while adding a refreshing, modern twist.
This collaboration on the “Coco” remix marks the start of an exciting new chapter. Alchemyst and I are already working on several new projects, exploring innovative directions within Organic House, Progressive House and Ambient. Expect to hear more groundbreaking and engaging music as we continue to expand our creative horizons.
THE INTERGALACTIC MERMAID'S ENCHANTMENT
Crafting Soundscapes: Alchemyst (UY)’s Epic Journey on experimental music
Working with Alchemyst (UY) on his latest EP, released by Electric Eden Records, has been an inspiring ride. The EP features three distinct tracks—“The Legend Of The Albino Peacock,” “A Unique Sunset In Manantiales Beach,” and “The Intergalactic Mermaid’s Enchantment.” As a Music Producer, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with Alchemyst, an Uruguayan DJ and Producer, throughout this creative process. Despite being miles apart, we composed, edited, mixed, and mastered these tracks entirely via Zoom, and the result is something truly special.
To shape the ethereal soundscapes of this EP, we worked extensively with software synthesizers like Arturia V Collection X and Kontakt. These powerful tools helped us craft the melodic layers and lush textures that give each track its unique sonic identity. The variety and depth of these synths allowed us to push the boundaries and bring a cinematic quality to the music.
One of the key elements of this EP is its genre-fluid nature. We blended sounds and techniques from Ambient and Downtempo with orchestral elements—violins, cellos, and horns—while also infusing them with driving dance floor beats. The result is a rich fusion that gives each track a narrative feel. “The Legend Of The Albino Peacock” dives into hypnotic rhythms, while “A Unique Sunset In Manantiales Beach” offers a more atmospheric, emotive sound. Meanwhile, “The Intergalactic Mermaid’s Enchantment” carries a cosmic, almost otherworldly vibe, making it stand out as the EP’s most experimental piece.
The orchestral layers we worked with, combined with rhythmic beats, are what made this EP such a unique listening experience. We leaned on these classical elements to add emotional depth while keeping the energy up with solid dance grooves. This approach allowed us to create something that’s not just for the club but also evokes a deeper listening experience.
This EP marks the beginning of an exciting journey. Alchemyst and I are already deep into new projects, working on a fresh set of tracks that continue to evolve our sound. Expect more boundary-pushing music from Alchemyst soon!
EPIPHANY
This release, out now on Electric Eden Records, feels like a true milestone – not only for Alchemyst’s career but also for Uruguay’s thriving electronic scene. The title track Epiphany is a perfect reflection of his evolution as an artist: immersive, hypnotic, and driven by grooves that can light up a dancefloor while also inviting introspection.
For the sound design, we relied heavily on Arturia V Collection X and Wavetable, creating custom patches specifically for this track. These synths gave us the depth and warmth we were aiming for, while the groove came to life through meticulously selected Organic House drum samples and textures. The balance of atmosphere, melody, and rhythm is what makes this track so special.
Adding to the release, two fellow Uruguayans contributed stunning reinterpretations. Federico Giust’s remix leans into fluid rhythms and evolving layers, enhancing the track’s organic flow, while Manu Godino’s rework adds intricate details and a refined progression that stretches the emotional impact even further. Together, their versions create a dialogue with the original, expanding its reach and showing the versatility of the composition.
His ability to merge organic rhythms with melodic storytelling has never been sharper, and this track stands as both a dancefloor weapon and a deeply emotional piece of music. It’s exciting to witness his vision becoming more defined with every release.
With Epiphany we’ve set the tone for what’s to come – I can’t wait to share the next chapter!
INTERTWINED SOULS
Working with Alchemyst (UY) on his new track Intertwined Souls, released as part of a very special album on Dekoda Music, has been a powerful reminder of just how versatile his musical vision has become. This track captures his ability to move fluidly between emotional depth and dancefloor energy, shaping a sound that feels both expressive and direct.
The entire creative process took place remotely via Zoom, where we composed, edited, mixed, and mastered the track together in real time. Distance never became a limitation – in fact, it allowed us to be extremely focused on detail and intention. Every element was carefully refined, from the rhythmic foundation to the evolving melodic layers, ensuring that the track would translate with impact on club systems while still maintaining a strong emotional narrative.
Sound design played a central role in Intertwined Souls. Throughout the process, we worked extensively with Arturia V Collection X, designing custom patches specifically for this track. These bespoke sounds helped define its character, blending warmth, movement, and texture in a way that supports the groove without overpowering it. The result is a track that feels alive, dynamic, and deeply connected to the dancefloor.
Intertwined Souls is a clear demonstration of Alchemyst’s versatility as a producer. He moves confidently between moods and energies, shaping music that can be both introspective and powerful in a club context. The groove is undeniable, the energy is focused, and the identity behind the track is unmistakably his.
This release is only part of a much larger journey. Alchemyst and I are already working on many more tracks, continuing to explore new directions and refine our collaborative language-music that will be released very soon and will further showcase the evolution of his sound.
